A Mayoral Candidate Forum will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Meyzeek Middle School, 828 South Jackson Street, Louisville, KY 40203. The forum will discuss the issues of concern to the African-American Community.  All Candidates for Mayor have been invited.  The forum is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Employers and job seekers have the opportunity to connect at the Louisville Urban League 16^th annual “Louisville Career Expo.”  The event, which is expected to attract about 3,000-plus job seekers and about 100 exhibitors, is scheduled on Wednesday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Kentucky International Convention Center.  

The Louisville Urban League (LUL) is proud to be the recipient of a $100,000 contribution from Louisville Gas and Electric Company. This one-time contribution has been made to support current program operations and services including those that benefit the underprivileged in our community in the areas of youth development, job search assistance and homeownership/foreclosure counseling.

URBAN LEAGUE’S SUMMIT TARGETS DISPARITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATIONS

The University of Louisville’s new head football coach, Charlie Strong, will address the Louisville Urban League 2010 Education Summit on the importance of young people being prepared academically to go to college and completing their degree. The Summit, which is free and open to the public, will be held Saturday, February 20^th, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Central High School, located at 1130 West Chestnut. The theme of the Summit is “Growing a College Going Culture: What will it take to accomplish this in the African American community?”
