16th Annual Louisville Career Expo

Louisville Career Expo

Employers and job seekers have the opportunity to connect at the Louisville Urban League 16th annualLouisville Career Expo.”  The event, which is expected to attract about 3,000-plus job seekers and about 100 exhibitors, is scheduled on Wednesday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

Traditionally one of the largest events of its kind, admission to the Louisville Career Expo is free to the public and targets adults who are 18 years of age or older.  The event offers companies the opportunity to: 1) meet face-to-face with large numbers of qualified job applicants; 2) diversify their workforce; and 3) get ready for the economic upswing.

“The Louisville Career Expo matches qualified and skilled prospective employees with great employment opportunities,” said Juanita F. Sands, director of the Louisville Urban League’s Center for Workforce Development. “The timing is perfect to help our community to prepare for a ‘stimulated’ economy by getting a jump on current and future workforce needs,” she added.

Expo offers “extras”

In addition to giving companies direct contact to the best of Louisville’s workforce talent pool, the Expo features an on-site technology center enabling immediate receipt of electronic applications, private interview space, opportunity to post current and projected job opportunities, and excellent marketing exposure.

This year the League is partnering with Monster.com to bring video kiosks and workshops conducted by Monster to help job seekers effectively use online and other job search techniques. Information on a new regional workforce initiative to help employers and job seekers supported by Wired65 will be announced and presented. Hourly presentations on jobs coming to Fort Knox as a part of the Base Realignment And Closure (BRAC) and how to apply for these high paying jobs will be provided as well.

Colleges and training programs can recruit potential students for advanced education and certification programs in high demand industries, such as healthcare, information technology, and construction.

Attendees will be prepared with resumes and professionally dressed for success at this employment event.
